English Premier League – Match Day 17

Everton vs West Ham United

Everton remain in UEFA Champions League qualifying zone and have been playing at a high level of late, as they are currently riding a four-game winning run following their 1-0 away win at Sheffield United the last time out. West Ham United have been trending in the wrong direction of late, and their scoreless draw against Southampton the last time out means they have now gone four straight matches without a victory (D3, L1). Everton (+108) start this game as favorites and they shouldn’t have major problems to secure the three points in this game at home against West Ham (+282). The Hammers would be lucky to escape with a draw (+257), but their chances to secure at least one point are slim to none when looking at the form of both sides.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Leeds United

Tottenham were one of the best teams in the league earlier this season, but they’ve been trending in the wrong direction of late — they played out to a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton and that means they’ve gone four straight matches without a win (D2, L2). Leeds United are trending in the right direction following a few steps in the wrong direction and they’ve won three of their last four league matches, highlighting a huge 5-0 away win over West Bromwich the last time out. Tottenham (-125) are massive favorites to win here, and that shouldn’t be a surprise here — Leeds United (+341) have been poor on the road and the Spurs have been almost dominant when playing in their home venue. Expect the Spurs to play to that favorite’s tag while securing the three points here.

Brighton vs Wolverhampton

Brighton are coming off a 1-0 loss at home against Arsenal the last time out and they’ve been trending in the wrong direction of late — they have taken just three points over their last five league contests (D3, L2). Wolverhampton have also been struggling in recent weeks and the injury sustained by Raul Jimenez has complicated the team’s chances of getting results due to their dependency in terms of firepower. The Wolves have won just once over their last five league matches (W1, D1, L3). Brighton (+171) and Wolverhampton (+189) have been struggling in recent weeks, and the lack of goal scoring power has been an issue for both teams — Brighton have had those issues all season long, while the Wolves have looked quite poor ever since Jimenez went down with an injury. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be shocking if this game ends in a draw (+226).
