English Premier League – Match Day 15

Leicester City vs Manchester United

Leicester are coming off a big 2-0 away win at Tottenham and have taken the three points in three of their last four contests, as they sit in second place of the standings and have all the look of a title contender once again. They won’t have an easy opponent here, though, as they will be facing a Manchester United side that is undefeated in their last five league games (W4, D1) and that is coming off back-to-back wins following their 6-2 thrashing of Leeds United the last time out. Leicester City (+208) should have the edge of playing at home, but their recent results at King Power Stadium have not been impressive by any means — they’ve dropped four of their seven EPL games in this venue while going W2, L3 in their last five contests. On the other hand, Manchester United (+135) have been the best away side in the league this season, winning their six matches away from Old Trafford and averaging over 3.0 goals scored per contest. With that in mind, Manchester United look like favorites ahead of this match and shouldn’t have major problems to secure the three points, something that is backed up by our BetQL model as well.

Arsenal vs Chelsea

Arsenal’s woeful season continued last week with a 2-1 loss against Everton, and Mikel Arteta’s team have taken just one point of their last 15 available (D1, L4) — they sit in 15th place of the standings and, if other results go against them, they might end this matchday on the relegation zone. Chelsea are moving in the opposite direction, as they are coming off a 3-0 win over West Ham that snapped a two-game losing streak and put them back in Europa League spots. Arsenal (+315) have the advantage of playing at home, but that hasn’t mattered much for The Gunners this season — they’ve recorded just two wins in seven matches in the Emirates Stadium this season while being the most disappointing team in the league by a wide margin. As for Chelsea, they start this game as favorites (-104) for their recent form despite playing on the road and, while a draw (+268) can’t be ruled out given how well these two sides match up with each other, Chelsea have been the better team all season long and should secure the three points here.

Fulham vs Southampton

Fulham got off to a slow start this season and they’ve won just two games all season long, but they have been showing signs of a turnaround in recent weeks and they are in a run of three straight draws while losing just once in their last five league games. Meanwhile, Southampton saw their three-game undefeated streak (W2, D1) come to an end the last time out with a 1-0 home loss against Manchester City, but they should be confident about their chances here since they’ve avoided defeat in each of their last five league games away from home. Southampton (+134) have undoubtedly been the surprise package in the 2020-21 Premier League season, but they’re winless in three of their last five games (W2, D1, L2) and might be trending towards normalcy after a strong start to the campaign. Fulham have struggled a bit and start as underdogs here (+229), but they’re undefeated in four of their last five games and seem to be trending in the right direction. Our model backs Fulham to pull the upset and secure the three points at home.
