DraftKings PGA Projected Ownership Plays Of The Week: John Deere Classic

Turns out we were a week early on Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, and David Hearn who all finished in the top 15 at the Greenbriar. This week, the PGA Tour moves onto the John Deere Classic. Unfortunately, this is another weak field as a lot of players are taking off to play the Scottish Open or preparing for the British Open next week. The John Deere Classic is a birdie fest which will empathize putting and green in regulation. Scroll down to see the lower ownership plays for this week!

Brian Harman $10,900

Projected Ownership: 13%

Brian Harman is projected to have the 2nd highest Draftkings scoring week according to RotoQL’s lineup optimizer. Harman has met is value 71% of the time this year and 43% of the time he has returned 1.5x value. The course history is good as he won the John Deere in 2014.  Brian Harman is 1st in Total Putting and 24th in Birdie Or Better Percentage in 2017.

Daniel Summerhays $8600

Projected Ownership: 8%

Daniel Summerhays is a great putter, especially on bentgrass greens. He is coming into this event off another TPC bentgrass course where he finished T17 at the Quicken Loans. Although he missed the cut last year, Summerhays has finished T4, T13, and T8 the 3 years prior. His $8600 price tag will keep ownership low. Pairing him with a Chez Reavie or Robert Streb will differentiate your lineup from the field even if you play all the chalky plays.

Chez Reavie $8400

Projected Ownership: 3%

Chez Reavie is on a hot streak with 4 cuts made in a row for both the season and the John Deere Classic. He has 2 Top 16 finishes in both situations so Reavie can check off the boxes for good course history and current form. At $8400, it is no surprise to see his projected ownership at 3%. This makes him a great GPP play in the weak field as only Bud Cauley and Kevin Na are projected above 15% ownership in the $8000 range this week. Most people will be spending on a couple studs and bargain bin shopping the rest of their lineup.

Others To Consider: Daniel Berger, Robert Streb

Value Tier

Kelly Kraft $7700

Projected Ownership: 5%

Kelly Kraft is a GPP risk-reward play this week as he is just as capable of finishing in the Top 10 as he is missing the cut altogether. There is good news however as he finished T5 last week and last year at the John Deere. His top finishes have come when it is on a course with fairways easy to hit. TPC  Deere Run is considered such a course. Picking Kraft may become the crafty play that wins you all the money this week.

Michael Kim $6900

Projected Ownership: 8%

Michael Kim is projected as the top value play according to the RotoQL’s lineup optimizer. He is a great course fit and has made 73% of cuts this season. For the season, Kim is 21st in Total Putting and 44th in Birdie Average. Priced under $7000, Michael Kim is poised to exceed his value and I would even consider him in cash games.

Alex Cejka $6700

Projected Ownership: 2%

Alex Cejka was not someone I expected to be popping into my radar this week but he is coming off a T9 at the Greenbriar which included a 64 on Sunday. His course history is good with consecutive cuts made as well as a T3 in 2006 and T25 in 2012. Cejka is a true bargain bin play this week at only $6700.
