Tampa Bay Buccaneers 47-7 Detroit Lions

The Buccaneers moved to 10-5 and clinched a playoff berth Sunday with a huge 47-7 win over the Lions in Week 16, and Detroit fell to 5-10 with the loss as they’re already thinking about ways to improve the team in 2021. The Buccaneers started the game with intensity and outscored the Lions 34-0 in the first half, as Detroit couldn’t score points with the offense — they needed a TD on a punt return to crack the scoreboard. The stats tell the story of how this game unfolded, as the Buccaneers outgained the Lions 588-186 in total yards, and Detroit only accounted for 113 passing yards in the entire game. Tom Brady had one of his most efficient performances of the season, as he completed 22 of 27 passes for 348 yards and four scores, while Blaine Gabbert completed nine of his 15 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns while playing garbage time. Mike Evans had a monster performance with 10 catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns, while Rob Gronkowski also found the end zone twice while logging just two receptions for 58 yards. Chris Godwin and Antonio Brown also contributed receiving touchdowns to Tampa Bay’s dominant victory on the road.

Minnesota Vikings 33-52 New Orleans Saints

The Vikings and the Saints played a back-and-forth game that featured both teams scoring at least one touchdown in every single quarter. The Saints got off to a better start and outscored the Vikings by a 14-7 score in the first 15 minutes of action, and they extended their advantage with a 10-7 score in the second quarter. Minnesota responded with a 13-7 third quarter and seemed as if they would have enough in them to turn things around in the final 15 minutes, but the Saints scored 21 points in the fourth quarter to come away with a huge win that also clinched them the NFC South title. Drew Brees was far from his best version since he completed 19 of 26 passes for 311 yards and two interceptions with no touchdowns, but Alvin Kamara picked up the slack — the star running back accounted for 22 carries, 155 yards, and a record-tying six touchdowns. In fact, Kamara scored six of the team’s seven touchdowns, with the other one being a rushing score from Taysom Hill. Kirk Cousins did a good job under center for Minnesota since he completed 27 of his 41 passes for 291 yards and three touchdowns, while the duo of star receivers in Adam Thielen and Justin Jefferson combined for 14 receptions, 182 yards, and a touchdown. Dalvin Cook added 73 yards and a score in 15 carries.

Tennessee Titans 14-40 Green Bay Packers

The Titans were unable to take advantage of the Indianapolis Colts’ loss on Sunday and also suffered a thumping loss against the Packers, conceding 40 points and scoring just 14. The weather conditions undoubtedly played a role in how the game happened, though, but the Packers adjusted better and outscored Tennessee 19-7 in the first half, setting up the stage for what would happen the rest of the way. Green Bay also outscored the Titans 14-7 in the third quarter and closed things out with a 7-0 score in the final quarter. Green Bay moved to 12-3 with the win, while the Titans fell to 10-5 and will decide their playoff fate in Week 17. A.J. Dillon posted a 100-yard game for the first time in his career, as he ended with 21 carries for 124 yards and two scores. He was eclipsed by Davante Adams’ monster game, though — the star receiver finished with 11 receptions for 142 yards and three touchdowns on 12 targets. For what is worth, Aaron Rodgers completed 21 of his 25 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns while tossing one pick. As for the Titans, Ryan Tannehill failed to make an impact and only completed 11 of his 24 passes for 121 yards, a score, and two picks — he also added a rushing touchdown on three carries and 55 yards. Derrick Henry had a below-average game for his standards as well, since he ended with 23 carries for 98 yards. Jonnu Smith added a touchdown as well while racking up three catches for 30 yards.
