Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 Columbus Blue Jackets

The Lightning has looked lost at times in their first-round series against the Blue Jackets, but good teams usually find ways to win and that’s what Tampa Bay has done thus far in the current series. Despite the fact the Blue Jackets outshot the Lightning 29-22 in Game 3 while winning a whopping 71 percent of the face-off duels, Tampa Bay scored two quick goals in the second period to defeat the Blue Jackets by a 2-1 score, earning a 3-1 series lead and putting Columbus on the brink of a first-round playoff exit. Barclay Goodrow and Yanni Gourde scored for Tampa Bay, while Cam Atkinson found the back of the net for the Blue Jackets. The main story here was Andrei Vasilevskiy, who made 28 saves for Tampa Bay.

Colorado Avalanche 7-1 Arizona Coyotes

The Avalanche was coming off a disappointing loss in Game 3 against the Coyotes, but they bounced back in a big way as they routed Arizona by a 7-1 score to put themselves up 3-1 in this Western Conference first-round series. Colorado limited Arizona to just 15 shots all game long while scoring in three of seven powerplay chances and finding the back of the net seven times despite attempting just 30 shots all game long. Nazem Kadri had two goals and one assist for Colorado, while Nathan MacKinnon (two assists), Matt Nieto (one goal, one assist), Matt Calvert (one goal, one assist), Gabriel Landeskog (two assists), and Mikko Rantanen (one goal, one assist) all notched two-point performances for Colorado in a dominating performance.

Boston Bruins 4-3 Carolina Hurricanes

The Hurricanes jumped out to a two-goal lead thanks to goals from Justin Williams in the first period and Jordan Martinook in the second, but the Bruins came from behind in the third and flipped the script with four unanswered goals — two from Jake DeBrusk, one from Connor Clifton and another one from Brad Marchand. The Canes made it a one-game goal with Teuvo Teravainen’s goal, but they didn’t have enough time and Boston came out of nowhere to earn a huge win that puts them up 3-1 in the series. It’s also worth noting Jaroslav Halak struggled between the posts for Boston, allowing three goals in only 19 shots for a paltry .842 save percentage.
